- My video editor became my best media buyer?!
My video editor became my best media buyer?!
Hadn't given him work in months, then this happened

Yo yo yo,
So, I hired my video editor because he was great at what he did.
Reliable, easy to work with, never needed hand-holding.
The only problem? I hadn't sent him work in f*cking MONTHS.
He was still on the roster, but I felt like an asshole.
As if I was ghosting someone but like a professional moron.
A few weeks later, though, he messages me.
"I know I do your video editing, but I've also been running paid ads. I'd love to show you some results."
Hilarious timing…
Because I had just posted the classic “WE’RE HIRING A KILLER MEDIA BUYER!!” post and was expecting to go through 3 painful weeks of hiring.
At first, I was skeptical.
Video editing and media buying don't overlap at all.
But he sent examples, and they were strong.
Good creative eye, solid metrics.
I gave him a 30-day trial, and within TWO weeks, I knew he was staying.
He was smart, self-sufficient, and had the creative understanding most media buyers lack.
The same work ethic from editing translated perfectly to paid media.
Now he's full-time, running campaigns and helping with creative.
It’s crazy that I almost missed this completely…
Because if he hadn't messaged me, I would have kept looking externally while the right person was already in my system.
Sometimes the best hire isn't the person you interview.
It's someone on your roster that’s already looking to grow.
(Which is what real killers do in this industry)
Don't overlook your existing team when hiring.
They might have skills you don't know about.
