- Client fires you, now what?
Client fires you, now what?
Five questions to ask before you start panicking

What's up,
I had a rough morning recently.
One client hinting at cuts but won't say what.
Another blindsiding me with scope changes mid-project.
And the third one probably leaving because they brought in a "friend who knows ads" who's about to screw everything up.
Two clients likely gone by the end of week.
Revenue disappearing, while potentially having to cut team members through no fault of their own.
But here’s the question I had to ask myself…
Why do I care so much?
Not in a nihilistic way, but genuinely…
Why am I letting this consume me?
Business isn't life.
Getting too attached or emotional leads to stupid decisions and saying things you regret.
When clients leave or things fall apart, here's what I actually ask:
1. How will this affect me right now?
Obviously, It'll suck.
2. How will this affect me in 6 months?
Probably won't matter much in the grand scheme.
3. Did I actually do something wrong, or was this out of my control?
If I screwed up, learn from it.
If it was external factors, let it go completely.
4. How can I prevent this from happening again?
Adjust systems, improve processes, better client vetting.
5. Will this destroy my business or life?
Nine times out of ten, absolutely not.
Client relationships are like breakups…
You can't change their mind, and if you somehow do, it won't work out well long-term anyway.
So no matter what, take it on the chin, stop dwelling the second you hop off that call…
And put all that energy into delivering better work for clients who actually want to be there.
They're just things that happened.
Move forward.
